Nei Blogs

Sometimes your body whispers what your heart already knows…

Every week I share a personal blog filled with stories and insights from my NEI practice.
About the emotions behind physical complaints, the patterns we carry, and the journey toward softness and healing.

Honest. Relatable. Heartfelt.
For inspiration, recognition and deep transformation.

Loyal to Your Parents – At the Expense of Yourself?

Loyalty to your parents – NEI therapy helps break unconscious family patterns and blocks
Loyalty runs deep. Especially when it comes to our parents.
Even if you grew up in an unsafe, confusing, or emotionally distant home, there’s often a voice that whispers: “But they’re still your parents…”

Children are loyal. Always. That loyalty drives you to do whatever it takes to receive love, safety, or recognition.
You adapt, become “good,” responsible, or invisible. You learn to sense what others need—often at the cost of your own needs.

When Loyalty Becomes a Cage
Maybe this sounds familiar:
-You struggle to set boundaries with your parents, even when they repeatedly drain your energy.
-You keep hoping for change, for acknowledgment, for that one sentence: “You’re right. We never saw your pain.”
-You feel guilty when you take distance, say no, or choose yourself.

That inner tension is called entangled loyalty.
You’re still loyal to the child in you who so desperately longed to be seen.
But in doing so, you forget your adult self. Your needs. Your life.

The Pressure From Within, and Around You
Sometimes, it’s not just your inner voice that says: “But they’re still your parents…”
Sometimes it’s your surroundings. Family members, friends, even therapists who imply you’re being ungrateful. That you should forgive, move on, or that they probably meant well.

As if your feelings matter less than their image of your parents.
As if being loyal to yourself equals betrayal.

But only you know what you went through.
Only you feel what it did to your body, your heart, your nervous system.

You are the only one who gets to decide where your boundaries lie — which relationships help you grow, and which ones keep you small.

Your Parents Don’t Have to Change
A painful truth: you may never receive what you hoped for.
That acknowledgment. That apology. That warm embrace.

And yet… you can still heal. Not by waiting, but by acknowledging what was, and what was missing.
By making space for your own truth.
By choosing your life, your peace, your freedom.

Loyalty Doesn’t Have to Be a Life Sentence
With NEI Therapy, we gently release subconscious beliefs like:
    •    “I’m not allowed to reject my parents.”
    •    “I should be grateful, even if they hurt me.”
    •    “If I choose myself, I’m selfish.”

We test and transform what no longer serves you — so you can say, with clarity and compassion:
“I honour where I come from… and I consciously choose where I’m going.”

You’re Not Ungrateful for Choosing Yourself
You are brave.
You’re breaking cycles.
And maybe… you’re giving your children and future generations the greatest gift of all: emotional freedom.

🖤You don’t have to cut ties with your parents to be true to yourself. But if that’s what it takes to reclaim your peace, you’re allowed to choose that too. Without guilt. Without shame.
